Hikvision Launches Installer Initiative on 5th Anniversary of STAR Program
Hikvision marked the fifth anniversary of its STAR Program for Social Good on October 22, 2025, by unveiling the Installer Partner Initiative. This new initiative seeks to invite additional installer partners to engage in impactful social good projects, enhancing the program’s reach and effectiveness across various communities.
The STAR Program, which stands for “Sustainability through Technology, Actions for Responsibility,” plays a vital role in Hikvision’s sustainability efforts. Launched on October 23, 2020, it aims to leverage AIoT technologies to assist non-profit organizations in discovering innovative solutions that benefit communities, nature, and culture. To date, Hikvision has collaborated with over 30 non-profits across 14 countries and regions, showcasing its commitment to social responsibility.
Despite its successes, Hikvision has faced significant challenges in executing projects due to the complex installation environments often involved. Many of these projects are situated in remote locations, including plateaus, oceans, and forests, which impose demanding installation requirements. A notable example is the glacial lake monitoring project conducted in partnership with the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, where teams worked under extreme conditions in the Himalayas to install monitoring devices.
In light of these challenges, the Installer Partner Initiative was launched to recruit installers with the necessary technical expertise to contribute to social good projects. “Although some NGOs can rely on their IT teams to install cameras, most of them still lack this professional skill,” said Ms. Merida Shen, the initiator of the STAR Program. She emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “That’s why we launch this Initiative, calling for installer partners to join us in this meaningful journey and together create a better world.”
The initiative aims to attract global installers who are committed to social good and possess the technical skills required for effective project implementation. “We look forward to advancing co-creation with our installer partners,” Ms. Shen noted, underscoring the potential for mutual growth and social impact through collaboration.
Hikvision’s STAR Program continues to evolve as it addresses the needs of non-profits and the communities they serve. The Installer Partner Initiative represents a significant step toward enhancing the program’s capacity to deliver impactful solutions in challenging environments. By fostering partnerships with skilled installers, Hikvision aims to expand its influence and drive positive change worldwide.
