Massachusetts Names Zenobia Moochhala as Undersecretary of Business Strategies
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has appointed Zenobia Moochhala as the new Undersecretary of Business Strategies, enhancing its economic leadership team, as announced by the Executive Office of Economic Development. Moochhala, recognized for her ability to cultivate mission-driven businesses, brings a wealth of expertise in marketing, product innovation, and growth strategy to the role.
Economic Development Secretary Eric Paley praised Moochhala’s leadership qualities, stating, “Zenobia is a dynamic and strategic leader who knows how to build, scale, and deliver.” Her extensive background, particularly as co-founder of Care.com, positions her as a vital contributor to the state’s economic expansion, reflecting a strategic commitment to bolster innovation and sustainable growth in Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities and Collaborations
In her new role, Moochhala will oversee the Massachusetts Office of Business Development, working closely with several key organizations, including the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, MassVentures, and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. Her responsibilities will also encompass the management of the state’s tourism and international trade initiatives, which are essential for enhancing Massachusetts’s economic outreach and vitality.
Moochhala’s transition to state government follows a distinguished career characterized by significant achievements. Not only did she co-found the world’s largest online caregiver marketplace, but she also played a crucial role in the post-acquisition development of Sittercity and contributed to marketing strategies that propelled Bright Horizons to success. Her accomplishments have earned her recognition from respected institutions such as the Boston Business Journal and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
A Commitment to Collaboration and Innovation
Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Moochhala stated, “Massachusetts is home to some of the world’s most innovative companies and brightest talent. Moochhala holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Xavier’s College and a Master of Arts from Brandeis University. Her educational background is complemented by a series of leadership positions, including her tenure as Chief Operating Officer at Embark Veterinary and influential roles at Upromise. Beyond her professional endeavors, Moochhala is committed to mentorship, actively supporting innovation and entrepreneurship through her involvement with TiE Boston and providing guidance to emerging founders.
With her extensive experience and strategic vision, Moochhala is poised to make a significant impact on Massachusetts’s economic landscape, reinforcing the state’s position as a hub for innovation and growth.
