CBS Sports has expanded its college basketball coverage by adding former Auburn University head coach Bruce Pearl and former Purdue University player Robbie Hummel as analysts. Both will contribute to regular-season game commentary and studio coverage, enhancing the network’s sports broadcasting team ahead of the NCAA Tournament.

Pearl, who recently stepped down from his coaching role at Auburn, will serve as a studio analyst. His tenure at the university was marked by significant achievements, including leading the Tigers to their second Final Four appearance in the program’s history. Under his leadership, Auburn held the No. 1 ranking for a substantial portion of the past season and earned a top seed in the NCAA Tournament, ultimately finishing with a remarkable record of 32-6.

Hummel will take on the role of game analyst during the NCAA Tournament. He is recognized for his impressive career at Purdue, where he was a standout player. Hummel’s insights and experience are expected to resonate well with audiences as March Madness approaches.

Significant Coaching Career

Pearl concluded his college coaching career with an impressive 706-268 record, having held positions at institutions such as Southern Indiana, Milwaukee, Tennessee, and Auburn. His final game with the Tigers occurred during the national semifinals, where Auburn faced Florida. Following his departure, his son, Steven Pearl, has been appointed as the new head coach, having served as an assistant under his father since 2017.

This strategic move by CBS Sports not only bolsters its roster of analysts but also reflects an ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive coverage of college basketball. As the network gears up for the NCAA Tournament, the addition of Pearl and Hummel is expected to enhance the viewing experience for fans across various platforms.

With the excitement of March Madness on the horizon, CBS Sports aims to deliver insightful analysis and engaging commentary, making the most of the expertise brought by these former athletes and coaches.
