Strathmore High Volleyball Team Secures Top Seed in Playoffs
The Strathmore High volleyball team has earned the No. 1 seed in the Central Section Division V playoffs, as announced last Friday. The team finished the regular season with an impressive record of 23-7 and dominated the East Sequoia League with a perfect 8-0 mark. All playoff matches are set to commence at 6 p.m.
Strathmore will kick off its playoff journey on October 28 against No. 16 Ridgecrest. Should the Spartans win, they will then host either No. 8 California City or No. 9 West in the quarterfinals on October 30. The semifinals are scheduled for November 4, followed by the championship match on November 6. As long as Strathmore continues to secure victories, the team will host all its playoff matches, including the title game.
Other teams in Strathmore’s bracket include No. 4 Morro Bay, No. 5 Cabrillo, No. 12 Coalinga, and No. 13 Highland. Liberty Madera holds the No. 2 seed in Division V and will also be competing for the title.
Monache and Porterville High Teams Enter Playoffs
In Division II, Monache High School received the No. 13 seed and will travel to face No. 4 Frontier on October 28. If Monache pulls off an upset victory, they will advance to play either No. 5 Mission College Prep or No. 12 Redwood in the quarterfinals on October 30. The Marauders finished their season with a record of 15-15-1 and placed third in the East Yosemite League with a 6-4 record.
Porterville High School enters the Division III playoffs as the No. 7 seed and will host No. 10 Kingsburg on October 28 at Sharman Gym. A win would likely lead Porterville to a quarterfinal match against No. 2 Bullard on October 30.
Summit Collegiate High School earned the No. 12 seed in Division VI, facing No. 5 Woodlake in the first round on October 28. This matchup will be a rematch, as Woodlake previously defeated Summit in both of their encounters this season, winning with scores of 3-2 and 2-0. If Summit wins, they will either travel to No. 4 McLane or host No. 13 Legacy Christian in the quarterfinals.
Girls Tennis Playoffs Highlight Strathmore’s Strength
In girls tennis, Strathmore secured the No. 4 seed in Division IV and will host No. 13 Matlida Torres on October 28 at 3 p.m. Quarterfinal matches will take place on October 30, with semifinals scheduled for November 4 and championship matches on November 12. If Strathmore wins their initial match, they will host either No. 5 Tehachapi or No. 12 Central in the quarterfinals.
Monache is also competing in Division IV, holding the No. 10 seed. They will travel to face No. 7 Lemoore on October 28. A victory would allow the Marauders to advance to a quarterfinal match against either No. 2 Avenal or host No. 15 South.
Porterville, as the No. 11 seed in Division III, will play at No. 6 Lompoc on October 28. If successful, Porterville would either travel to No. 3 Woodlake or host No. 14 Mt. Whitney for the quarterfinals.
As playoff season unfolds, the performances of these teams will be closely watched as they strive for success in their respective divisions.
