BREAKING: Actor Aaron Paul has confirmed he will not reprise his role as Powerplex in the upcoming seasons of Invincible. During a recent appearance on the Kinda Funny podcast, Paul revealed he turned down an offer to return due to the emotionally taxing nature of the character.

Paul described his experience portraying Powerplex as “too grueling” and expressed discomfort with revisiting the role, stating, “What it did to me, I didn’t like.” This revelation comes as fans eagerly await the series’ return in March 2024, when Invincible launches its highly anticipated fourth season.

Powerplex, an electricity-controlling supervillain, first appeared in the series during a particularly dark episode titled “All I Can Say is Sorry.” In this episode, Powerplex accidentally kills his wife and son during a battle with Invincible, leaving a lasting emotional impact on the storyline and on Mark, the protagonist.

Despite his exit, Powerplex continues to play a significant role in the Invincible comics, suggesting that viewers will still encounter the character in future adaptations, albeit with a new voice actor. Although Paul’s departure marks the end of his involvement, the character’s trajectory remains pivotal to the series’ narrative.

Fans looking for Aaron Paul in a more uplifting role can turn to AdHoc Studio’s Dispatch, which was recently nominated for a Game Award.

As the March premiere approaches, the Invincible team will need to find a suitable replacement for Powerplex, ensuring the show’s continued excitement and emotional depth. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops!
