Frontier Airlines Ceases Operations at Palm Springs Airport Today

URGENT UPDATE: Frontier Airlines is set to halt all flights from Palm Springs International Airport in just hours, effective November 29. This development impacts thousands of travelers who frequent the airport, which serves the bustling Coachella Valley region.

The budget airline announced last week that shifting travel demand and ongoing adjustments in the aviation sector prompted the drastic decision. Frontier’s operations will cease, eliminating its direct routes to Denver and San Francisco, which were popular among passengers.

Despite this setback, a spokesperson for Frontier reassured travelers that Palm Springs International Airport will maintain its nonstop service options. “PSP is not losing any nonstop destinations following Frontier’s departure,” the spokesperson stated. United Airlines and Southwest Airlines will continue to operate flights to Denver, while United and Alaska Airlines will serve San Francisco.

Officials from the airport report a robust growth trend, with passenger numbers up nearly 5 percent year-to-date compared to last year. They remain optimistic about the future of air travel in the area, emphasizing that the airport continues to thrive despite the loss of Frontier.

In a strategic pivot, Frontier Airlines is launching new routes across the United States, including a recent nonstop service from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. These flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and are part of a broader expansion plan that includes four new routes starting in early 2026.

Beginning January 21, travelers can expect a new three-weekly nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Orlando International Airport. The very next day, a twice-weekly nonstop service will connect Salt Lake City International Airport to Tucson International Airport. February will see additional routes linking Miami International Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Orlando International Airport to Pensacola International Airport.

To celebrate these new offerings, Frontier is promoting fares as low as $29. “These new routes will provide consumers with more affordable connections across the United States,” said Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design for Frontier Airlines. “With our ultra-low fares and enhanced customer experience, we are excited to show travelers why Frontier is becoming America’s Low Fare Airline.”
