Massive Winter Storm to Disrupt Travel for Millions Post-Thanksgiving
URGENT UPDATE: A massive winter storm is set to wreak havoc on post-Thanksgiving travel for millions of Americans. The FOX Forecast Center warns that this storm will deliver some of the season’s heaviest snowfall, beginning Friday and continuing through early Saturday, severely affecting travel plans across the Rockies and the Central U.S.
The storm is being fueled by a dip in the jet stream combined with Arctic air lingering over the northern U.S. A low-pressure system is expected to form over the central Rockies and Plains, bringing significant snowfall. Higher elevations in the Rockies could see multi-inch totals, while Denver is forecasted to receive 1–3 inches of snow by Monday, marking the end of a remarkable 200-day snowless streak.
As millions begin their journeys home from Thanksgiving festivities on November 25, 2025, travel disruptions are anticipated. The storm is expected to blanket the Midwest with 5–8 inches of snow, impacting states like Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Major cities including Chicago, Milwaukee, Des Moines, and Madison are bracing for heavy snowfall.
Travelers should prepare for significant delays at key airports, including Chicago O’Hare, Chicago Midway, Detroit Metropolitan, and Milwaukee Mitchell International. The FOX Forecast Center highlights that travel disruptions could extend into Monday, with snow shifting eastward and impacting the Northeast and New England as the weekend progresses.
“This storm will create treacherous travel conditions, and we urge everyone to check their flight status before heading to the airport,”
said a spokesperson from the FOX Forecast Center.
