UPDATE: Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is set to miss 4-6 weeks due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, according to sources who spoke with ESPN earlier today. The injury occurred during the Nuggets’ victory over the Houston Rockets on Friday, leading to an MRI that confirmed the severity of the damage.

This injury is a significant blow to the Nuggets, as Gordon joins teammate Christian Braun, who is already sidelined for at least six weeks following an ankle sprain sustained on November 12. The loss of two starters could challenge Denver’s depth as they look to maintain their momentum in the Western Conference, where they currently hold a record of 12-4 and sit second behind the Oklahoma City Thunder at 16-1.

Gordon, who previously scored a career-high 50 points on opening night against the Golden State Warriors, has been a key player this season, averaging 18.8 points and a career-best 44.4% from beyond the arc. His performance places him among just seven players averaging 15 points with shooting splits of 50-40-85, according to ESPN Research.

This injury comes as Gordon has been managing bilateral hamstring issues, having previously played through a Grade 2 left hamstring strain during the Western Conference semifinals last season. The Nuggets will now lean on Peyton Watson to step up at forward, alongside new additions Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas to fill the gap.

As the Nuggets navigate this challenging stretch, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the team adapts in Gordon’s absence. The urgency to maintain their competitive edge in the league is palpable, and every game will be crucial as they strive to stay in contention for the top spot.
