Police Identify Baby Boy Found Dead in 1981, Seek Public Help
URGENT UPDATE: Police have officially identified the family of a newborn boy found dead in a garbage can at Buckeye Park in San Bruno, California, on November 11, 1981. This breakthrough comes after years of investigation into the tragic case, which has now been reignited by advanced forensic genealogy technology.
At approximately 4 p.m. on that fateful day, the infant was discovered inside a trash receptacle. Authorities confirmed the baby had been dead for only a few hours and succumbed to strangulation and severe head injuries. Investigators believe the child was placed in the garbage can shortly after 11 a.m. that morning.
The San Bruno Police Department announced the identification of the infant’s family on Tuesday, revealing that they collaborated with the Texas Department of Public Safety and specialized forensic labs to achieve this significant development. While the names of the baby’s parents remain undisclosed, police emphasized that this identification marks a pivotal moment in their ongoing efforts to solve the case.
“This identification represents a major step forward in the case and has renewed efforts to bring this case to justice,” stated police in a social media announcement. They are now urgently requesting the public’s assistance in gathering more information that could lead to the identification of those responsible for this heartbreaking crime.
Despite extensive investigations conducted in 1981, including the discovery of Type O-positive blood and hair evidence, investigators were unable to pinpoint the child’s identity or the individuals behind his death. The presence of reddish-brown human hair and black dog hair found on the sock used in the strangulation further complicates the case.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Residents can contact the San Bruno Police Department at 650-616-7100 or via email at [email protected].
As this investigation continues to unfold, the community remains hopeful that justice will be served for this innocent life lost decades ago. Stay tuned for more updates as the story develops.
