Police Seek Suspect After Innocent Bystander Shot in Inwood
URGENT UPDATE: Police are actively searching for a male suspect linked to a non-fatal shooting incident that left an innocent bystander wounded in Inwood, Manhattan. The shooting occurred on Monday, November 24, at approximately 4:15 p.m., near the intersection of West 204 Street and Broadway.
Witnesses report that tensions escalated among a group of teenagers, resulting in one individual brandishing a knife, followed by a gunshot. The bullet struck 64-year-old Francisca Nunez in the left leg. Nunez was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for her injury.
In a heartfelt statement, Nunez urged the newly elected Mayor Zohran Mamdani to take action against gun violence, emphasizing a need to remove firearms from the streets. “We need to make our communities safer,” she stated.
Authorities describe the shooter as wearing a black jacket, black sweater, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers. Police have not yet made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
