URGENT UPDATE: Officials have confirmed the identity of the man fatally shot in Richmond last week as 23-year-old Josue Cornejo. This tragic incident occurred on November 17 in the Iron Triangle area, marking one of four homicides investigated this year by local police.

According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received alerts from a gunshot detection system around 5:55 a.m. in the 1400 block of Bissell Avenue near Marina Way. Multiple witnesses reported hearing gunfire, prompting a swift police response. Officers arrived to find Cornejo suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
