Sisters Killed in Fresno County Crash: Family Speaks Out Urgently
UPDATE: A devastating crash in Fresno County has claimed the lives of two sisters, prompting their family to share the heart-wrenching consequences of this tragedy. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, November 1, 2023, on Belmont Avenue, just west of Brawley Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Angelina Nino was driving at high speeds when she failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle lost control, veering off the road and resulting in the fatal injuries of both Nino and her 14-year-old sister Rayla Piedra. Despite immediate medical attention, Rayla succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
A 27-year-old man who was also in the vehicle sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized. The family is reeling from this sudden loss, grappling with the emotional weight of losing two beloved members.
Lorraine Quinonez, the girls’ aunt, expressed the family’s heartbreak, stating, “The weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls.” Quinonez emphasized the family’s deep bond with the sisters, underscoring their efforts in raising them. Rayla was looking forward to her 15th birthday on November 8, a milestone now overshadowed by grief.
In light of this tragedy, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help lay the girls to rest. Community support is crucial as they navigate this painful chapter in their lives.
Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such heartbreaking incidents. The family hopes their story will resonate and raise awareness about the dangers of speeding.
As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of two vibrant young lives, with many expressing their condolences and support online.
