St. Charles North Dominates 2025 All-Area Volleyball Teams

BREAKING: The 2025 Beacon-News/Courier-News Girls Volleyball All-Area Team has just been announced, showcasing an impressive lineup of talent. Leading the charge are four standout players from the dominant St. Charles North team, whose performances this season have been nothing short of extraordinary.

Haley Burgdorf, a senior outside hitter from St. Charles North, has made a remarkable impact with an astounding 435 kills, along with 198 digs, 52 aces, and 23 blocks. Her accolades include being named an Under Armour All-American and a two-time DuKane Conference Player of the Year. Burgdorf has committed to play at Penn State, further solidifying her status as one of the top players in the region.

Freshman sensation Camryn Boyd from South Elgin also shone brightly, leading her team with 291 kills, 178 digs, 35 aces, and 24 blocks. Boyd’s impressive performance earned her honorable mention all-state and all-conference recognition.

Another remarkable player, Rylie Carlson, a sophomore from Newark, contributed significantly with 262 kills, 214 digs, and 25 blocks, securing a first-team all-state spot. Meanwhile, Paige Genke, the senior setter from South Elgin, delivered 579 assists, bringing her career total to an impressive 1,536 assists, and was named team MVP.

Other notable mentions include Hannah Herrick from Oswego, who racked up 326 kills and 256 digs, and Elizabeth King from Hampshire, who surpassed 1,000 career kills with her 313 kills this season.

The excitement continues with Ella Maxwell from West Aurora, who was named Upstate Eight West’s player of the year after recording 561 assists and 137 digs. Senior setter Mia McCall from St. Charles North also shined, finishing with 767 assists and committing to play at Valparaiso.

This year’s All-Area Team reflects not only the individual talents but also the collective strength of the players and their teams. With numerous commitments to prestigious colleges, including Hope Wagner from Aurora Christian, who achieved 379 kills, and Kaylee McInnis from St. Charles East, who contributed 340 kills, the future of volleyball in the region looks bright.
