Stockton Man Arrested After Shooting Woman in Vallejo

UPDATE: A 34-year-old Stockton man has been arrested for attempted homicide after a shooting that critically injured a woman in Vallejo last week. The incident unfolded on Thursday, October 12, 2023, when emergency responders received a call at 11:06 a.m. from a woman who reported she had been shot and was en route to a local hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital, officers met with the victim, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries due to a gunshot wound sustained in the 100 block of Forest Ridge Drive. Authorities quickly launched an investigation, identifying the shooter as DeShawn Michael Cochise Pollard.

With Pollard believed to be in the Sacramento area, Vallejo Police obtained an arrest warrant and coordinated with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office to locate him.

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 8:25 p.m., officials spotted Pollard on the 4500 block of Ledonne Drive and initiated a traffic stop. In a dramatic turn of events, Pollard attempted to flee, resulting in a collision with another vehicle occupied by an innocent driver. Following a brief foot chase, authorities apprehended Pollard near Florin Road and 55th Street.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Pollard has been booked into the Solano County Jail on multiple felony charges, including attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
