UPDATE: A Tennessee man has been charged with reckless murder following a deadly DUI crash in Montgomery. The incident occurred at 8:07 PM on October 25, 2023, at the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and Norman Bridge Road, resulting in the tragic death of 54-year-old Frederick Bernard Hill.

According to official reports, Cameron Wilhite, aged 28, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he collided with a Ford Escape before striking Hill’s Ford Explorer. Hill was pronounced dead shortly after reaching a local hospital, bringing a devastating end to this incident.

Wilhite, a resident of Memphis, registered a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .15, nearly double the legal limit, during a test conducted approximately 1.5 hours post-accident. Officers noted that open containers were discovered in Wilhite’s vehicle, and he exhibited signs of being in an “obviously impaired state” at the time of his arrest.

Currently, Wilhite is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility without bond. This shocking incident raises critical concerns about road safety and the devastating consequences of impaired driving.

Authorities urge the community to remain vigilant about DUI incidents as they continue to investigate this tragic event. The Montgomery Police Department has confirmed that they are cooperating with ongoing inquiries to provide further updates.

This fatal accident highlights the urgency of addressing drunk driving in our communities. As families mourn their loved ones, discussions around stricter DUI regulations and community awareness campaigns are more pertinent than ever.
