Top Basketball Prospect Bruce Branch III Reclassifies to 2026
BREAKING: Bruce Branch III, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, has just announced his decision to reclassify to the 2026 class. This pivotal move positions him to play college basketball as early as next fall, igniting excitement among fans and college programs alike.
The announcement came Saturday, as Branch prepares to graduate from Prolific Prep in Florida this spring. “I believe in my ability. I am confident that I can do this,” Branch told ESPN. His determination is palpable as he reflects on his journey, stating, “I remember when I was in the first grade playing against third graders. I got pushed down and I got back up.”
This decision is significant not only for Branch but also for college basketball programs. Although he has yet to take any official visits, top-tier schools including Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, USC, BYU, Arizona, Houston, and Miami are actively pursuing him. A decision regarding his college destination is expected by spring.
“I want to take things one step at a time,” Branch emphasized. His immediate focus remains on leading his team to victory at the upcoming Chipotle Nationals. With his recent birthday, Branch is now eligible for the 2027 NBA draft, a class that lacks the depth of 2026, positioning him as a strong contender for the No. 1 pick.
Branch is also vying for the top spot in the SC Next 100, a position historically held by Tyran Stokes. “I want to expand my opportunities,” Branch stated, acknowledging the challenges that come with his decision. “The mental side is as hard as the physical side.”
Statistically, Branch has made a name for himself, averaging 15.9 points and 5.2 rebounds during the Adidas 3SSB circuit last spring and summer, with an impressive 39% shooting rate from beyond the arc. At 6-foot-7 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, he possesses NBA-level athleticism characterized by speed and explosiveness. His shooting skills are exceptional, particularly in motion, showcasing a smooth release and outstanding mechanics.
“His work ethic will prepare him for this reclassification,” said Ryan Bernardi, coach of Prolific Prep. “He is emotionally stable; he does not get too high or too low.”
As Branch embarks on this new chapter, the basketball community is eagerly watching for what comes next. His reclassification is not just a personal milestone; it has the potential to reshape the dynamics of college basketball recruitment and the impending NBA draft. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
