Trump’s Ukraine Deal Criticized as “Disgrace” by Pulitzer Winner

URGENT UPDATE: Renowned journalist and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas L. Friedman has launched a scathing critique of Donald Trump’s recent Ukraine deal, labeling it a “disgrace” that undermines American values and allies. In his latest column for the New York Times, Friedman warns that this controversial plan could redefine the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Friedman asserts that Trump’s pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize is misguided, stating, “Unfortunately, it is not that Nobel peace prize he so covets. It is the ‘Neville Chamberlain Peace Prize’—awarded by history to the leader of the country that most flagrantly sells out its allies and its values to an aggressive dictator.”

He specifically criticized the lack of consultation with Ukraine and European allies, noting that Trump’s administration, alongside advisors like Steve Witkoff, Marco Rubio, and Dan Driscoll, effectively negotiated a deal that capitulates to Vladimir Putin’s demands. This agreement reportedly requires Ukraine to accept terms by Thanksgiving, which falls on November 23, 2023.

Friedman warns that if Ukraine is forced to surrender under these terms, Thanksgiving will transform from an American celebration to a “Russian holiday.” He states, “It will become a day of thanks that victory in Putin’s savage and misbegotten war against Ukraine’s people…was delivered to Russia.”

He argues that by appeasing Putin, the U.S. risks placing the entire European Union under Russian influence. “Trump’s message to our allies will be clear: Don’t provoke Putin,” Friedman added. “As long as I am commander in chief, the United States will pay no price and we will bear no burden in the defense of your freedom.”

Friedman concludes with a stark warning about the implications of this deal, coining the term “Trumped” to describe being sold out by an American president for reasons that remain unclear to the citizens. “History will never forget the men who did it—Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, Marco Rubio, Dan Driscoll—for their shame will be everlasting.”

This critical commentary raises urgent questions about the future of U.S. foreign policy and its impact on international alliances. As this situation develops, the global community watches closely to see how these diplomatic tensions will unfold.
