Urgent: Winter Parking Rules Begin December 1 in Triple Cities
UPDATE: Starting December 1, 2025, winter parking rules go into effect in the Triple Cities area, impacting residents and visitors alike. These regulations are essential for ensuring safe and accessible roadways during the winter months, and failure to comply could lead to costly fines.
In the Village of Johnson City, the alternate street parking rule mandates that residents park on the even side of the street on even days and the odd side on odd days, lasting through March 31, 2026. Non-compliance will result in tickets, with officers typically issuing warnings during the first week. However, enforcement may vary this year, so residents are urged to follow the guidelines closely.
Similarly, the City of Binghamton enforces identical alternate parking rules, which conclude on March 15. Officials emphasize moving vehicles off streets during snow events to facilitate snow plow operations, especially as odd/even changes take effect at 5 p.m. each day. Remember, if parked on an odd side on the last day of the month, leave the vehicle until the next day—an important tip to avoid fines.
The Village of Endicott also begins its winter parking rules on December 1, with restrictions prohibiting parking on village streets between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. unless otherwise posted. After a snow emergency, specific areas will prohibit parking from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to allow for snow removal. Residents should check local signage and the village website for detailed regulations.
Additionally, in the Town of Vestal, the annual winter parking ban kicks off on December 1, restricting parking on town roads from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. until the end of March. This measure is crucial for maintaining clear and safe travel during winter weather.
Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these rules to avoid penalties. With snow already impacting the region, compliance is more critical than ever. For further details on specific regulations, visit the respective municipal websites for Johnson City, Binghamton, Endicott, and Vestal.
As winter settles in, knowing these rules can save you time, money, and the hassle of dealing with parking tickets. Share this information to help friends and neighbors stay informed and compliant. Stay safe and warm this winter!
