Tragic Death of Teen Apprentice in Turkey Sparks Outrage
A tragic incident in Turkey has led to the death of a 15-year-old wood shop apprentice, Muhammed Kendirci, after his co-workers allegedly inserted a high-pressure air hose into his rectum during what they described as a “prank.” This horrific act occurred on Friday at a woodworking center in Sanliurfa and resulted in severe internal injuries that ultimately claimed Kendirci’s life five days later.
According to the local news outlet Milliyet, the incident involved Habip Aksoy and another individual who reportedly overpowered Kendirci, restraining him before forcibly removing his pants. The high-pressure hose, commonly used in various industries for tasks such as auto repair and powering tools, was inserted into his anus, causing catastrophic damage to his internal organs. Following the incident, Kendirci was rushed to Harran University Research and Application Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The actions of Aksoy have sparked significant outrage across Turkey. Initially arrested, he was released on probation but was taken into custody again shortly afterward. The specific charges against him have not yet been disclosed. This incident is not isolated; the high-pressure air hose has previously been linked to fatal injuries in other young individuals.
In a similar case in 2023, a 16-year-old boy named Motilal Sahu died in India after a co-worker inserted a compressed air hose into his rectum “for fun” while at a factory in Hadapsar. The act, performed by Dheerajsingh Goud, resulted in Sahu collapsing due to severe internal injuries, leading to his death shortly thereafter.
This disturbing trend of dangerous pranks has also been observed in previous years. In 2017, Wesner Moreira da Silva, a 17-year-old car wash worker, died after colleagues used a high-pressure air hose on him, causing his intestines to explode. Following the incident, Thiago Giovanni Demarco Sena and Willian Enrique Larrea were convicted of rape and murder, receiving sentences of more than 12 years in prison.
The deaths of these young individuals highlight a concerning pattern of recklessness among peers, with serious and often fatal consequences. Communities are calling for stricter regulations and awareness programs to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
