At just 18 years old, Aonishiki made the bold decision to move to Japan alone. His friend, **Arata Yamanaka**, who was captain of the sumo club at **Kansai University**, welcomed him into his home and facilitated his training at the university. Aonishiki’s ring name, which translates to “blue,” nods to the colors of his homeland’s flag.

Despite joining the sport later than many of his peers, Aonishiki quickly showcased his potential. He achieved a notable third-place finish at the junior world sumo championships in Japan when he was only 15, further solidifying his commitment to the sport.

Since arriving in Japan, Aonishiki’s progress has been remarkable. He quickly adapted to a new culture and language, becoming fluent in Japanese while training rigorously at **Ajigawa stable**.
