URGENT UPDATE: A special weather alert has just been issued for multiple counties in Pennsylvania, warning of potentially hazardous travel conditions due to freezing temperatures and lingering wet roads. The National Weather Service announced this alert on Tuesday, at 8:28 p.m., effective until Wednesday, at 8 a.m.

The affected areas include Mercer, Venango, Forest, Lawrence, Butler, Clarion, Jefferson, Beaver, Allegheny, Armstrong, Washington, Greene, Westmoreland, Fayette, and Indiana counties. As temperatures drop below freezing overnight, any remaining wet spots on untreated roads could quickly turn to ice, creating dangerous driving conditions.

“Area roads remain wet in spots from snowmelt after Tuesday’s widespread snow accumulation,” warns the National Weather Service. Travelers are urged to use extreme caution, especially on bridges, highway exit ramps, and back roads, where icy patches are most likely to form.

Drivers should plan for potential delays and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve. The National Weather Service emphasizes the importance of staying updated as the situation develops, given the unpredictable nature of winter weather in this region.

Stay informed and share this urgent weather alert with others who may be affected. Your safety is paramount, and being aware of road conditions can make all the difference.
