Urgent: Air Antilles Suspends Flights, Hundreds Stranded Now
UPDATE: Air Antilles has temporarily suspended all flights as of December 9, 2025, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded in the French Antilles just as the peak holiday season kicks off. The suspension comes after the Direction de la Sécurité de l’Aviation Civile revoked the airline’s operating license due to significant safety concerns.
Travelers attempting to reach or leave from Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport in Guadeloupe now face uncertainty as Air Antilles has halted all operations. This abrupt cancellation affects flights to and from popular destinations including Martinique, Saint-Barthelemy, and other Caribbean islands like Antigua and the Dominican Republic.
The airline’s website now displays a pop-up stating that all flights are “temporarily suspended until further notice,” with management urging customers to check their emails for updates. The safety audit that triggered the license revocation highlighted critical issues within the airline’s management of flight operations, as reported by Saint Martin News Network.
With no clear timeline for resuming services, Air Antilles is scrambling to address the regulatory issues. The airline’s operating license was only recently extended until January 31, 2026, amid ongoing financial struggles. Travelers are advised to consider alternative arrangements, with Air Caraïbes stepping in to rebook some affected passengers.
In a broader context, the airline industry is facing turmoil, with several carriers filing for bankruptcy in 2025. This includes major regional operators like Eastern Airways and Blue Islands, alongside international names such as Play Airlines. The fallout from these closures reflects a dire economic landscape affecting air travel globally.
Passengers stranded by Air Antilles cancellations are feeling the effects acutely, as many have planned holiday trips around these flights. With the islands in the midst of their busiest travel season, the disruption is causing anxiety and frustration for those hoping to reach their vacation spots or return home.
As the situation develops, travelers are urged to stay connected with official sources for the latest updates on flight operations. The urgency of the matter underscores the need for immediate action as Air Antilles navigates these critical challenges in the days ahead.
