SanDisk Launches Ultra-Compact 1TB USB-C Flash Drive
SanDisk has unveiled its latest innovation, the Extreme Fit USB-C, claiming it to be the “world’s smallest” USB-C flash drive with a storage capacity of one terabyte. This ultra-compact device is designed for users seeking high transfer speeds and portability, boasting read speeds of up to 400 megabytes per second.
The Extreme Fit USB-C connects via USB 3.2 Gen 1, which ensures compatibility with a variety of host systems that support this standard. Measuring just 18.5 x 15.7 x 13.6 millimeters and weighing a mere three grams, this flash drive is engineered to fit seamlessly into most modern notebooks without protruding. Its unique vertical design allows it to remain connected without the risk of accidental damage.
Storage Options and Pricing
SanDisk offers the Extreme Fit USB-C in multiple storage capacities, including 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and the flagship 1 TB model. The recommended retail price for the one terabyte version in the United States is set at $119.99. Interestingly, the basic model with 64 GB is expected to achieve lower transfer speeds of 300 MB/s.
According to Joshua Bato, a representative for SanDisk, all variants of the Extreme Fit USB-C come with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, reflecting the company’s confidence in the product’s durability and performance.
Market Context and Future Outlook
The launch of this device comes at a time when demand for memory products is on the rise, driven by a global shortage of NAND flash memory. Industry experts suggest that prices for memory products may increase significantly in the near future, making the release of the Extreme Fit USB-C particularly timely for consumers and professionals alike.
As technology continues to advance, SanDisk’s new flash drive caters to the growing need for compact, high-capacity storage solutions. The Extreme Fit USB-C is poised to appeal to a wide range of users, from casual consumers to professionals requiring reliable and efficient data storage options.
