Stephen Miller Condemns Democrats Over Military Order Video
White House adviser Stephen Miller criticized Democratic lawmakers after they released a video urging U.S. military personnel to “refuse illegal orders.” The video, shared on social media platform X on October 24, 2023, features Senators Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, along with Representatives Jason Crow, Maggie Goodlander, Chris Deluzio, and Chrissy Houlahan. The lawmakers claimed that there are “threats to our Constitution” arising from within the country.
In the video, the officials emphasized that “No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution.” Their statement has prompted a strong reaction from Miller, who described the message as a call for insurrection against the military’s chain of command. He expressed his views during an interview with Fox News, stating, “It is insurrection, plainly, directly, without question.”
Miller’s remarks highlighted a belief that the Democratic Party is fostering a dangerous environment by encouraging military personnel to disobey orders from the President. He referred to the communication from lawmakers as a “general call for rebellion,” asserting that it undermines the authority of the commander-in-chief.
The video and subsequent comments have sparked a debate about the responsibility of military personnel regarding orders they perceive as illegal. Miller accused the lawmakers of promoting an environment where defiance against the federal government is justified, arguing that it poses a significant threat to constitutional order. He stated, “We have seen the Democratic Party nurse the flames of violence and insurrection against the federal government for the last 10 months.”
The situation reflects ongoing tensions between political parties in the United States regarding issues of authority and legality within the military. As discussions continue, the implications of such statements on military-civil relations remain a critical concern.
In light of these accusations, Miller called for the resignations of the lawmakers involved, suggesting that their statements warrant disgrace and disqualification from public office. The political landscape continues to evolve as both sides of the aisle respond to these contentious issues.
