Paramount Theatre Hosts 111th Anniversary Gala Featuring Lukas Nelson
The Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas, is set to celebrate its 111th anniversary with a gala event featuring acclaimed musician Lukas Nelson on May 9, 2024. Themed “Road Trip Romance,” the celebration will embrace the spirit of the 1970s, inviting guests to don vintage-inspired attire reminiscent of the era’s adventurous culture.
The festivities will commence with a 30-minute cocktail and snack reception exclusive to premium ticket holders, followed by an hour of music from local band Madam Radar. Attendees can look forward to a performance by Nelson, who is renowned for his contributions to country music and is the son of legendary artist Willie Nelson. The evening will conclude with a late dinner running from 21:00 to 23:00, featuring a diner-inspired menu crafted by Chef Michael Fojtasek of Olamaie, alongside culinary collaborations from various local restaurants.
Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy live music from the Love & Happiness Band, who will play popular covers as attendees dance and explore a silent auction filled with unique experiences and artisanal goods. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Paramount Theatre and its sibling venue, the State Theatre, supporting their ongoing operations and community engagement.
To assist guests in selecting their outfits, the Paramount has curated a vision board on Pinterest, highlighting essential 70s fashion such as fringed jackets, bell bottoms, and denim. The gala promises to be a vibrant celebration of both the theatre’s history and the iconic decade.
Tickets for the event start at $625 and are available at tickets.austintheatre.org. The Paramount Theatre is located at 713 Congress Ave, Austin, Texas.
In addition to this celebratory event, both the Paramount and State Theatres are undergoing renovations aimed at enhancing their facilities. Announced in November, the Paramount will receive careful updates to preserve its historical charm, while the State Theatre will undergo a significant interior redesign while maintaining its exterior facade. Both venues will be temporarily closed during the renovation process, ensuring that future performances continue to delight audiences for years to come.
