Fraser Olender Recovers After Heart Attack Linked to Vaping
Fraser Olender, known for his role on *Below Deck*, recently experienced a heart attack attributed to vaping. Olender, 33, revealed in an Instagram post on December 5, 2023, that he was hospitalized after suffering severe chest pains and breathing difficulties. In a candid update, he described the incident as “vape poisoning,” which led to his hospitalization in London.
His boyfriend, Matt Rogers, 35, provided reassurance during a recent episode of *Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen*. “He’s doing much better,” Rogers stated, acknowledging the concern from fans. “I know a lot of people are watching that care about him. Thank you so much.”
In his Instagram post, Olender detailed the frightening experience, explaining that he spent a week undergoing tests with specialists. He shared, “Whatever was in my vape caused me to have a coronary artery vasospasm.” This medical condition, he elaborated, occurs when the arteries supplying blood to the heart suddenly constrict, leading to reduced blood flow and ultimately causing an ST-elevation myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack.
Olender emphasized the gravity of his situation, stating, “The pain I endured for 24 hours was inexplicable. Two rounds of morphine didn’t touch the sides.” He noted that the strongest pain relief administered in the emergency room only alleviated his pain from a 10 to a 7 on the pain scale. His message underscored the dangers associated with vaping, as he urged others to reconsider their habits. “I could have died for the sake of something so ridiculously stupid,” he cautioned. “Please do yourselves a favor and give it up too—cold turkey.”
Despite the ordeal, Olender expressed gratitude for his recovery and encouraged his followers to prioritize their health. He concluded his post with a positive note, stating, “It’s been nearly three weeks off the vape—my skin has never been better, brighter, and clearer; there MUST be a correlation.”
Rogers has also been open about their relationship, sharing insights during appearances on various media platforms. On Tommy DiDario’s podcast, he reflected on his surprise romance with Olender, noting how their relationship gained public interest. “He’s such a wonderful person,” Rogers commented, acknowledging the challenges of sharing personal experiences with their audience.
As Fraser Olender continues to recover, his story serves as a cautionary tale about the potential health risks associated with vaping. With his experience resonating with many, he hopes to raise awareness and prompt others to reconsider their choices regarding vaping products.
