Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital has been recognized as a high-performing facility for maternity care for the second consecutive year. As part of the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list for 2026, the hospital achieved this distinction by demonstrating exemplary performance in key quality measures, including rates of unexpected complications and C-sections.

The U.S. News evaluation, which began in 2021, assesses hospitals that provide labor and delivery services. For its 2026 rankings, a record 901 hospitals across the United States submitted maternity data, with 495 hospitals being acknowledged for their excellence. This recognition aims to assist expectant parents in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care for uncomplicated births.

Recognition and Commitment to Quality Care

Located at 6780 Mayfield Road in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Hillcrest Hospital is one of three Cleveland-area hospitals featured on the list, alongside Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital and MetroHealth Medical Center. Dr. Brian J. Harte, president of the East Submarket of Cleveland Clinic’s Northeast Ohio Market, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “Hillcrest Hospital brings together experienced teams, coordinated care, and resources that help create a safe and reassuring birthing experience.”

Dr. Harte emphasized that this achievement reflects the dedication of caregivers who support families through pregnancy, childbirth, and the early days of a newborn’s life.

Innovative Programs Enhancing Maternity Care

Cleveland Clinic attributes part of its success to the CenteringPregnancy program, a national initiative designed to enhance prenatal care. This program combines brief, private meetings with healthcare providers and facilitated group sessions for 8-10 women and their partners. Participants share information on various topics, from managing backaches to breastfeeding and post-natal birth control options.

Research indicates that the CenteringPregnancy program has positively impacted many families at Hillcrest Hospital. Data show it has contributed to lower rates of preterm and low-weight babies, increased breastfeeding rates, and improved pregnancy spacing. Introduced at Cleveland Clinic in 2016, this program is available to all pregnant women receiving prenatal care within the organization.

While CenteringPregnancy is not explicitly included in the U.S. News methodology, a spokesperson from Cleveland Clinic noted that it is one of the ways Hillcrest supports safe, healthy pregnancies, contributing to the strong outcomes reflected in the evaluation data.

As families seek reliable maternity care, Hillcrest Hospital’s continued recognition underscores its commitment to providing high-quality services and fostering informed, confident parents.
