LAEDC Honors 30 Years of Economic Excellence at EDDY Awards
The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) celebrated its 30th Annual EDDY Awards on October 12, 2023, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The event gathered over 500 leaders from various sectors, including business, government, education, and the community, to commemorate the achievements of individuals and organizations that contribute to inclusive economic growth in Los Angeles County.
Emceed by Sheba Turk of CBS Los Angeles, the evening featured a dynamic program that highlighted regional pride and the collective efforts of honorees who support the local economy. The awards presentation included notable figures such as Assemblymembers Isaac G. Bryan, Mike Fong, and Harabedian, along with Kathryn Barger, Los Angeles County Supervisor, and Renee Pea, Consul General of Croatia.
Among this year’s award recipients were:
– **International Award of the Year**: Los Angeles World Airports
– **Corporate Partner of the Year**: FOX
– **Strategic Engagement Partner of the Year**: California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, along with CSU Dominguez Hills, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, and CSU Fullerton
– **Workforce Development Partner of the Year**: Brotherhood Crusade
– **Small Business Partner of the Year**: Porto’s Bakery
– **Medium Business Partner of the Year**: See’s Candies
– **Most Business-Friendly City – Small City**: City of Montebello
– **Most Business-Friendly City – Large City**: City of Glendale
The EDDY Awards serve as LAEDC’s signature gala and its only annual fundraising event. Proceeds from the gala directly benefit programs that promote inclusive growth, workforce pathways, business assistance, and actionable economic research across Los Angeles County.
Founded as a non-profit organization, the LAEDC champions equitable economic development in the Los Angeles region. By collaborating with community, government, business, labor, and education partners, the LAEDC aims to create a reimagined regional economy that is inclusive, sustainable, and resilient, ensuring a high standard of living for all residents.
