Mets’ David Stearns Discusses Impact of Williams Deal on Diaz

In a recent statement, New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns acknowledged that the team’s signing of reliever Devin Williams has influenced their pursuit of All-Star closer Edwin Diaz, who has reportedly agreed to a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. This announcement comes shortly after Diaz opted out of his existing deal with the Mets, which had two years remaining worth $38 million.
