UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes bounced back decisively from their recent loss, overpowering the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners with a commanding 88-64 victory at the CU Events Center on December 8, 2023. After a shaky first half, Colorado unleashed a relentless second-half performance, outscoring UTSA and showcasing their offensive prowess.
Trailing by just three points at halftime with a score of 35-32, the Buffaloes ignited the second half with a stunning early run. They kicked off the period with nine consecutive points, part of a game-shifting 17-2 streak that left the Roadrunners scrambling. Colorado shot an impressive 62.2% in the second half, while UTSA struggled, managing only 33.3% (12-for-36) from the field.
Point guard Barrington Hargress spearheaded the offensive onslaught, finishing with a season-high 23 points on 9-for-12 shooting, including five three-pointers. Teammate Sebastian Rancik contributed significantly, scoring 12 of his 15 points in the second half and grabbing a team-high 7 rebounds. Additionally, Bangot Dak added 10 points, along with four assists and two blocks, bolstering the Buffs’ defense.
With this victory, Colorado improved their record to 9-1, demonstrating resilience and teamwork after a tough defeat. They dominated the boards, out-rebounding UTSA 48-32, further emphasizing their control of the game.
In contrast, UTSA (4-6) struggled to find their rhythm, with Jordan Simpson leading their scoring with 20 points. The Roadrunners’ inconsistent shooting plagued them throughout the game, especially in the second half.
