TXT Faces Backlash for “Worst Performance” at 2025 MAMA Awards
UPDATE: The K-pop group TXT has been labeled as delivering the “worst performance” at the 2025 MAMA Awards, igniting a firestorm of criticism across social media. During the event on November 28, 2025, what was anticipated to be a highlight for the group quickly turned into one of the most contentious moments of the night.
The performance began with member Yeonjun taking the stage solo, delivering renditions of “Coma” and “Talk to You.” However, reactions were overwhelmingly negative, with many netizens expressing disappointment at the lack of energy and stage presence. A viral post on Pann declared TXT’s performance as “dead last” among the night’s acts, stating, “The gap between them and the other idols who performed today was huge.”
On the following evening, November 29, TXT returned as a full group to perform “Upside Down Kiss” and “Beautiful Strangers.” Unfortunately, these performances also failed to impress, prompting further backlash. The online discourse surrounding their appearance is marked by a mix of disappointment and ridicule, with commenters stating, “I’m a TXT fan, but at this point, their bad performances just make me laugh.”
The criticism intensified, especially following the controversial win of Stray Kids for the prestigious Daesang award. Fans noted the stark differences in performance quality, with some even comparing TXT unfavorably to other groups like BTS and SEVENTEEN. “With skills like that, I honestly don’t think they could ever handle choreography from groups like BTS,” one user lamented.
Adding fuel to the fire, a series of comments pointed out perceived shortcomings in TXT’s stagecraft, with some fans questioning the abilities of individual members. One commenter remarked, “When I look at Yeonjun, I can’t even tell if he’s actually good or not… sometimes he does well, sometimes he’s unbelievably bad.”
Despite the harsh feedback, the discussions around the event have highlighted the competitive nature of the K-pop industry, where performance quality is scrutinized at every turn. The MAMA Awards, known for their elaborate stages and high stakes, have become a battleground for both praise and criticism among fans and artists alike.
As discussions continue to unfold, many are left wondering what the future holds for TXT. The group must navigate the backlash while also addressing the high expectations set by their previous performances. Fans and industry observers are now eagerly anticipating how TXT will respond to this criticism in their upcoming engagements.
