Urgent Snowfall Expected Tonight in Central Indiana: Prepare Now!
URGENT UPDATE: Central Indiana is bracing for significant snowfall tonight, as accumulating snow is forecasted from Thursday night into early Friday. After a day of cold temperatures, residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions as snow begins to impact the evening commute.
Temperatures have plunged into the mid-20s, with gusty winds making it feel even colder. While Thursday remains mostly cloudy with a high near 31°F, conditions will shift dramatically as the evening approaches. Snow is expected to overspread much of the region, particularly affecting areas southwest of a line from Lafayette to Richmond.
The National Weather Service has indicated that a significant band of snow, with expected accumulations of 1-3 inches along and southwest of the aforementioned line, could blanket parts of Central Indiana. Some areas may see even more, with predictions of 3-5 inches possible across central and southern Indiana. This developing situation calls for immediate attention as the exact snowfall totals will depend on the storm’s path.
As the storm intensifies, gusty winds are expected to subside overnight. However, the cold air will remain, setting the stage for potentially dangerous conditions on the roads. Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling after the snow begins to fall.
In addition to tonight’s snow, another system could bring light snow on Saturday, coinciding with what is projected to be the coldest air of the season. High temperatures on Sunday may struggle to reach the single digits, with wind chills making it feel even colder.
Forecast Summary: Tonight’s weather will be cloudy with a low of 25°F. Expect snow likely after dark, with a low dropping to 26°F. Tomorrow will remain mostly cloudy, with a high of 33°F. Saturday may bring light snow, with highs only reaching 19°F.
Stay tuned for updates as this weather system develops. Central Indiana residents should keep an eye on local forecasts and be prepared for changing conditions. For the latest information, check back frequently as this story progresses.
