Caregiver Choir Releases Charity Cover of ‘Angels’ for Holiday Season
Visiting Angels, a prominent home care organization, has launched a charity initiative in the United Kingdom, bringing together caregivers to create a cover of Robbie Williams’ iconic 1990s ballad “Angels.” The collaboration involves nine caregivers from various care organizations and aims to transform the heartfelt song into a global anthem celebrating the dedication of caregivers.
The HomeCare’s Got Talent Choir recorded the single at the renowned Abbey Road Studios in London, a location synonymous with legendary artists such as The Beatles and Pink Floyd. The studio not only provided a rich musical backdrop but also served as the setting for the accompanying music video, which showcases behind-the-scenes moments from the recording session.
Dan Archer, CEO of Visiting Angels UK and the founder of HomeCare’s Got Talent, shared that the concept originated during this year’s talent competition finale. The choir’s goal is to produce a holiday hit that encapsulates the daily commitment of caregivers. Caregivers from various organizations, including Caremark, Home Instead, Voyage Care, Mochridhe, Vitality Care, and Calon Lan Community Care, traveled from across the UK to participate in this unique project.
The charity single, released on November 28, 2023, aims to surpass the original song’s U.S. chart performance and reach the coveted No. 1 spot this holiday season. Proceeds from downloads will support both the Alzheimer’s Association in the United States and the Care Workers’ Charity in the United Kingdom. The Alzheimer’s Association is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research, while the Care Workers’ Charity offers crisis assistance and mental health support for social care workers.
Participants in this initiative hope that the new version of “Angels” will resonate with audiences and highlight the crucial work caregivers do every day. By combining their voices and talents, the HomeCare’s Got Talent Choir is not only aiming for a musical hit but also fostering a sense of community and support among caregivers worldwide.
As the holiday season approaches, the choir’s campaign underscores the importance of recognizing and valuing the contributions of caregivers, who play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.
