Singer Survives Electric Shock on Stage in Peru Concert
A live concert in Peru turned into a terrifying scene when 21-year-old singer Carlos Suarez was electrocuted by his own microphone. The incident occurred while he was preparing to perform with his rock band, Mi Mejor Amigo Scott, leaving patrons in shock as they witnessed the harrowing moment unfold.
As Suarez reached for the microphone, he suffered an electric shock that caused him to collapse onto the stage. The event, which took place in a packed bar, was captured on social media, showing him falling back while emitting primal screams of pain. According to local news outlet Buenos Días Perú, sparks flew from the band’s equipment as he lay incapacitated on the floor for several seconds.
Spectators can be heard in the video frantically shouting, “The current, the current,” as two men, believed to be a sound technician and a member of another band, quickly rushed to unplug the equipment. After the shock, Suarez was transported to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for first-degree burns.
In a subsequent Instagram video, Suarez reassured fans that he was recovering from the traumatic experience. “I went through a very traumatic situation and came close to losing my life,” he stated in Spanish. He acknowledged the potential fatal consequences of the incident but expressed gratitude for his relatively minor injuries, which included burns on his neck.
Suarez explained that when he plugged his guitar into the amplifier and reached for the microphone, he “received an electric shock that paralysed me for about seven seconds.” He described the moment as terrifying, saying, “All I could do was scream and fall to the floor, where I continued to be electrocuted.” He noted that the microphone fell onto his neck, causing the burns, which he confirmed were superficial.
Despite the ordeal, Suarez emphasized his overall health, stating, “I am stable, and I have no complications in my body.” He also confirmed that he remained conscious throughout the incident, despite being in shock. Following his recovery, he announced he would be taking a break from live performances until further notice.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential hazards associated with live performances, prompting discussions about safety measures in the entertainment industry. As fans and fellow musicians express their support, Suarez’s experience highlights the importance of vigilance regarding equipment safety during concerts.
