Latest data from MLB and Nielsen reveals an average of 4.33 million viewers through the division series, marking a staggering 30% increase compared to last year.

Last Friday’s intense 15-inning showdown between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers captivated audiences, averaging 8.72 million viewers across Fox, Fox Deportes, and streaming platforms. This thrilling game, which saw the Mariners clinch a 3-2 victory in the fifth and deciding match of the AL Division Series, became the most-watched division round game on Fox since 2011, when Detroit faced the New York Yankees.

The two AL Division Series aired on Fox, FS1, and FS2 averaged 4.15 million viewers, the highest for any network since the NL Division Series on TBS featuring the Cubs and Cardinals. In a remarkable showing, the series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Yankees, won by the Blue Jays in four games, averaged 7.65 million viewers in both the U.S. and Canada.

Overall, viewership for all four division series in the U.S. averaged 4.17 million, a significant 17% increase from last year and the highest since 2011. The Blue Jays’ division series games in Canada averaged 3.65 million viewers, a 10% increase from their last ALDS appearance in 2016.

Looking ahead, the first game of the AL Championship Series between the Mariners and Blue Jays on Sunday attracted 5.31 million viewers on Fox, Fox Deportes, and streaming services, reflecting a 32% increase over last year’s Game 1 of the ALCS.
