“Gilded Age Stars Share Anticipations for Season 4 Storylines”
Fans of *The Gilded Age* are eager for details about the upcoming fourth season of the popular series, and the show’s stars are equally enthusiastic about potential storylines. During a recent event in New York, Audra McDonald expressed her excitement for the return of “Railroad Daddy,” the character portrayed by Morgan Spector. Speaking at the *Gilded Age FYC Event* on **November 18, 2023**, McDonald stated, “I want to know what’s going to happen with ‘Railroad Daddy,’ if he’s going to come back to our dear Bertha. I can’t imagine life without the two of them together; they belong together.”
Another star, Taissa Farmiga, shared her anticipation for the evolving narrative between Blake Ritson’s Oscar van Rhijn and Mrs. Winterton, played by Kelley Curran. Farmiga, 31, remarked, “I feel like Oscar van Rhijn is someone who…him and Mrs. Winterton together, I feel like they get up to so much drama, but like juicy drama. I’m excited to see what chaos they would cause for our society in the 1880s.”
Ensemble Cast and Season 3 Recap
The series features a robust ensemble cast, including acclaimed actors such as Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon. The third season premiered on **June 22, 2023**, and concluded in early August. Although there has yet to be an official announcement regarding the release date for the fourth season, it was confirmed that the series was renewed in **July 2023**.
Farmiga humorously mentioned the lighter moments on set, particularly regarding her blooper reel from season three, which she suggested would feature “lots of swearing,” among other antics. “I have a pretty foul mouth. I don’t know why it just happens,” she joked. She added, “There’s a lot of laughing too. I can’t stop laughing, even like the crying scenes. As soon as they call cut, like I need a break.”
Representation in Historical Drama
McDonald also highlighted the importance of her character, Dorothy Scott, in representing Black high society, a facet often overlooked in historical dramas. “The fact that [Black high society] existed, and now a wider audience is seeing that, maybe they’ll now dig into history on their own, as a result,” McDonald explained. She emphasized the need for diverse narratives, saying, “We are so much more than that,” referencing the roles often assigned to Black characters in period pieces.
As excitement builds for the next chapter of *The Gilded Age*, fans and cast alike are left to wonder how these intricate storylines will unfold in a society marked by both opulence and turmoil. The anticipation for season four continues to grow, promising a blend of drama, humor, and important cultural representation that captivates audiences around the globe.
