Scott Adams Shares Hospital Update During Cancer Treatment
Scott Adams, the creator of the popular comic strip *Dilbert*, provided a candid update from his hospital room on November 2, 2023. In two live streams shared on social media, he informed viewers that he would not be hosting his regular show, *Coffee with Scott Adams*, due to health issues stemming from his ongoing battle with prostate cancer.
Adams initially revealed his cancer diagnosis during a May episode of his show. On the day before his hospital update, he cut his episode short, feeling unwell. In his live streams, he explained that he was “velcroed to a chair” in the hospital and unable to continue his usual broadcasting.
Hospital Update and Future Plans
In a video shared on X, Adams reassured his audience, stating, “Hey people. So, normally I would be doing my ‘Coffee with Scott Adams’ live stream, but you can see the problem. I’m tied to a chair in the hospital.” He humorously noted that while he could attempt to escape, he likely would not, as he did not want to keep his audience waiting. He explained, “This will not be the show. I just didn’t want to leave you hanging if you were sitting there with your coffee.”
Adams remained optimistic about his condition, saying he expected to be discharged later that day. He described his experience in the hospital, mentioning that he was attached to various medical devices and receiving antibiotics, which he suggested might be due to infections acquired during his stay. Despite his discomfort, he engaged with viewers, expressing gratitude for their support.
“I’m going to keep this short. I just wanted to leave a little record here that I’m here, but the show won’t be here today because somebody tied me to a chair with Velcro,” he said. Adams concluded his update with uncertainty about his return to the show, stating, “I will see you maybe tomorrow. I don’t know.”
Previous Health Advocacy
Earlier in the week, Adams made headlines when he reached out to former President Donald Trump on November 2, asking for assistance with his health insurance provider, Kaiser Permanente. He claimed that the company had failed to schedule a critical treatment for his cancer called Pluvicto. Following his request, Adams noted on his show that he believed it may have saved his life. He later expressed that Kaiser was “definitely stepping up” and providing him with “a high-quality product.”
As Adams navigates his health challenges, his updates reflect both his struggle and his commitment to maintaining a connection with his audience. With thousands tuning in during his live streams, Adams continues to engage with fans while managing his treatment.
