Hulu Unveils Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid’s New Crime Thriller
Streaming service Hulu has added a new crime thriller featuring acclaimed actors Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid, which became available on December 12, 2025. Titled Neighborhood Watch, the film showcases the duo in a gripping narrative that explores themes of friendship and resilience against the backdrop of a mysterious kidnapping.
In Neighborhood Watch, Quaid portrays Simon McNally, a young man with a mental disability who believes he has witnessed a woman being kidnapped. When local law enforcement dismisses his claims, Simon turns to his neighbor, Ed Deerman, played by Morgan, a retired security guard, to assist him in uncovering the truth. The film is directed by Duncan Skiles and written by Sean Farley, with additional performances by Cecile Cubiló, Jim Klock, and Malin Akerman.
A Hidden Gem of 2025
Despite a limited theatrical release and simultaneous video-on-demand debut in April 2025, Neighborhood Watch has been labeled one of the most underrated films of the year. Its character-driven plot offers an emotional depth that resonates with viewers, making it a strong candidate for end-of-year streaming favorites. The film’s unique pairing of Quaid’s emotionally complex character and Morgan’s gruff demeanor provides a blend of humor and heart within a suspenseful narrative.
Critics have responded positively to the film, resulting in a favorable reception on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, where it holds a 70% critic score and a 68% audience rating. Shawn Van Horn from Collider described it as “a heartbreaking tragedy” while also noting it as “one of the best feel-good movies of the year.” Jennifer Renson of Culturess echoed this sentiment, calling Neighborhood Watch a “must-see” for fans of any genre.
What’s New on Hulu This December
Hulu continues to expand its content offerings this December, adding a variety of films and television shows. Notable additions include acclaimed titles such as Black Swan, Full-Court Miracle, and the complete Home Alone franchise, which were released on December 1. Other films, including Inheritance and Strange Harvest, have followed throughout the month, alongside new seasons of popular shows like The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball.
As audiences seek out engaging content, Neighborhood Watch stands out as a compelling option for viewers looking for a blend of thriller and emotional storytelling. With its unique premise and strong performances, it represents the ongoing evolution of streaming cinema, offering something fresh in a crowded marketplace.
