Tyler Bourgea Sets New Points Record in Tewksbury Hockey Victory

In a remarkable display of skill, senior Tyler Bourgea of Tewksbury High School achieved a significant milestone on January 13, 2024, by becoming the all-time career points leader for the Tewksbury Redmen boys’ hockey team. Bourgea’s outstanding performance included two goals and four assists, propelling his team to a commanding 9-0 victory over Newton South at John Ryan Arena.

Bourgea entered the game needing just four points to surpass the previous record of 146 career points set by Ryan Petti in 2015. He achieved this milestone with an assist on a goal by Kevin Andriolo during the first period, marking his 147th point. By the end of the match, he had increased his total to 149 points.

The Redmen, now undefeated with a record of 6-0, showcased a strong offensive effort, with Andriolo contributing two goals and an assist. Teammates Andrew Conroy and Jason Shreenan also made significant contributions, each scoring multiple points, while Jack Ryan and Jake Batts added to the tally with goals of their own. Michael Macauda and Walter Jop each provided two assists, illustrating the team’s collective effort.

Other Notable High School Sports Results

In addition to Bourgea’s record-breaking achievement, several other high school teams had notable performances over the weekend. In a thrilling match, Dracut/Tyngsboro rallied from a deficit to defeat Methuen 3-2, with senior captain Charlie Wilkie netting the game-winning goal.

Bishop Guertin enjoyed a decisive win over Rice Memorial, securing a 4-1 victory. The team was led by Hugh Roark, who scored twice and added an assist.

Wrestling events also captured attention, with Nashoba Tech achieving three victories at a quad meet, defeating Weston and Woonsocket (both 54-24) and Keefe Tech (48-35). Several wrestlers, including Jordan O’Neill and Carter Lynch, went undefeated on the day.

The Wilmington Wildcats continued their successful season by sweeping four matches, with standout performances from sophomore Sam Beaudoin, who went 4-0 at 106 pounds, and senior captain Mason Kwiatkowski, who maintained a strong record at 157 pounds.

In girls’ basketball, Pelham secured a comfortable victory against Sanborn, winning 46-25. Center Sophia Guinazzo led the Pythons with a dominant performance, scoring 20 points.

North Andover edged Chelmsford/Tyngsboro/Billerica in gymnastics, finishing with a score of 133.9 to 130.75. Joanna Hoose delivered an impressive performance, winning all four individual events with an all-around score of 37.0.
