Butte County Supervisors Set to Approve $2.3 Million for Homeless Services

The Butte County Board of Supervisors is preparing to approve three significant contracts aimed at enhancing services for the homeless population. During their meeting on March 12, 2024, the board will consider contracts totaling $2,376,150 funded by the latest round of the Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention grant.

The contracts are a response to a request for proposals issued by the county, which attracted multiple organizations. The selected recommendations include:

– Jesus Provides Our Daily Bread: $2 million for the Park Place Permanent Housing initiative.
– Catalyst Domestic Violence Services: $210,520 for the Navigation Coordination Programs.
– True North Housing Alliance: $165,630 for the Howard Slater Navigation Center Program.

Other organizations, including Youth For Change, the Oroville Southside Community Improvement Association, the Oroville Resource Center and Rescue Mission, and the Chico Housing Action Team, also submitted proposals but were not selected for funding at this time.

Additional Board Business

In addition to the contracts for homeless services, the board will address several other matters during the meeting. One key item on the agenda is a resolution to modify an agreement with the California Department of Healthcare Services concerning the county’s Crisis Care Mobile Unit, which provides essential support to those in crisis.

Moreover, the county counsel will present a recommendation regarding the distribution of excess funds from tax-defaulted property sales. These funds are intended for “parties of interest” connected to the parcels that were sold.

The Butte County Board of Supervisors meeting will commence at 9 a.m. in the county chambers located at 25 County Center Drive, Suite 205, Oroville, California. The meeting is open to the public, allowing community members to engage with local governance.
