LeAnn Rimes Discusses Potential Guest Role for Eddie Cibrian on ‘9-1-1: Nashville’
Fans of the television series 9-1-1: Nashville are curious about the possibility of seeing LeAnn Rimes‘ character, Dixie, find romance, potentially with her real-life husband, Eddie Cibrian. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Rimes hinted at the idea during discussions about her character’s storyline, stating, “Dixie doesn’t fall short of a little flirtation” in a recent crossover episode.
Rimes, 43, expressed her belief that Dixie deserves a love interest, especially as a way to provide some distraction in her life. “They’ve definitely talked about it because he’s on set with me a lot,” she mentioned, suggesting that Cibrian, 52, could easily slip into the role of her on-screen partner. “Who knows? He could come on and play my love interest all day long. I would have no problem with that,” she added.
The couple, who have been married since 2011, appear to be thriving both personally and professionally. Rimes described their home life as “very calm,” sharing that their stepsons, aged 22 and 18, still live with them. “Everybody is great and everything is so quiet. We both are very calm people and we just enjoy very normal stuff,” she said. This period of tranquility has been a welcome change for Rimes, who reflected on her busy career, saying, “For me especially, everything has been go, go, go my whole life.”
Rimes’ return to acting has posed new challenges, particularly as she navigates her role on 9-1-1: Nashville. “I’ve never been a regular on a series. It was juggling all the things of life along with touring,” she explained. Each day on set presented learning opportunities for her as she adjusted to the acting environment. Cibrian’s presence on set has been beneficial, providing her with support and insights into the production process.
In addition to her acting, Rimes has also contributed musically to the series. She recently released her song, “Wild Things Run,” specifically for the show. Rimes noted the rapid timeline from script to release, stating that the process was unusually quick compared to her typical songwriting experience. “In the grand scheme of things, I live with songs for months before it gets released. So, it feels great,” she shared.
The song’s narrative aligns with her character’s journey, capturing the essence of a relationship filled with ups and downs. Rimes described her creative experience as “a bit stressful,” but ultimately rewarding. “It keeps you on your toes. I feel like Don (played by Chris O’Donnell) and Dixie’s relationship has been these two wild souls running towards each other and then away from each other,” she explained.
Rimes further elaborated on how writing the song has sparked new ideas for her future music projects. “It was a great way to stretch my brain as a writer,” she noted, suggesting that the process has inspired her next record.
“9-1-1: Nashville” airs on ABC Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET before streaming on Hulu the following day.
As Rimes continues to balance her music and acting careers, her fans remain eager to see how her character’s storyline evolves and whether they will witness Cibrian’s debut on the show.
