BREAKING: The Sacramento Kings have confirmed that All-Star center Domantas Sabonis will be sidelined for at least a week due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain. This injury will keep him out of the season opener against the Phoenix Suns on October 25, 2023, as well as the home opener against the Utah Jazz on October 27, 2023.

Sabonis suffered the injury during a preseason loss to the Los Angeles Clippers last Wednesday night. Following the game, he underwent testing, leading to his absence in the preseason finale on Friday. Although the injury is classified as minor, the Kings are taking precautions to ensure his full recovery.

This setback comes as a significant blow to the Kings, who are also without fourth-year power forward Keegan Murray, out for at least a month due to a torn UCL in his left thumb. With both key players unavailable, Sacramento has been testing alternatives such as second-year center Isaac Jones and veterans Dario Saric and Drew Eubanks to fill the gaps during preseason.

Fans and analysts alike are left to wonder how this will impact the Kings’ chances in the early part of the season. The team is expected to rely heavily on their remaining roster members to step up in the absence of two pivotal players.

As the situation develops, the earliest return for Sabonis could be a home game against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 29, 2023. Stay tuned for updates on his recovery and the Kings’ performance in the upcoming games.
