URGENT UPDATE: An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after suffering a collapsed lung and a brain bleed from a devastating helicopter crash in Huntington Beach, California, on October 11, 2023. Witnesses report that a helicopter spiraled out of control and plummeted from the sky, striking Oliver Holland as he enjoyed a day at the beach.

According to his sister, Madeline Holland, Oliver was struck by the helicopter at approximately 2:00 PM. He is currently hospitalized and undergoing surgery. “We are praying for a safe recovery,” she stated in a heartfelt message on a GoFundMe page. As of now, the campaign has raised nearly $110,000 from over 2,500 donations, demonstrating the community’s support in this critical time.

The helicopter was reportedly participating in a local fundraising event known as “Cars ‘N Copters” when it suddenly malfunctioned, causing it to spiral and crash into a row of palm trees. Eyewitness videos capture the terrifying moments as the aircraft twirled in the air before careening towards the beach, where it became lodged between trees and a staircase near Pacific Coast Highway.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department confirmed that five individuals sustained injuries in the incident, including two people who were aboard the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage.” Three others on the ground, including Oliver, were also injured. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Madeline described her brother as “the smartest, funniest boy I have ever known,” adding, “I pray for my brother and a safe recovery. We want to spread awareness of this, and anything can help.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the community rallies together to support Oliver and his family during this challenging time.
