Join Nicea for a Heartfelt Evening at Grief and the Holidays
Caring Connections, a grief and hope program at the College of Nursing, will host an event titled “Grief and the Holidays” on November 11, 2023, from 19:00 to 21:00. The event will feature keynote speaker Nicea, who will share her personal story of loss in memory of her mother. This gathering aims to provide support for those experiencing grief during the holiday season, a time that can be particularly challenging for families who are missing loved ones.
Social worker Taryn Hiatt with Caring Connections explains that the organization offers this event annually to help grieving families navigate the complexities of the holidays. Attendees will learn practical strategies for self-care and discover ways for others to offer support throughout the year, with a special focus on the holiday period when families often come together.
The evening will include music performances by Missy Lynn and refreshments provided by Ruby Snap Cookies. This combination of heartfelt storytelling and uplifting music aims to create a supportive atmosphere for attendees.
The event will take place at the College of Nursing, located at 10 S 2000 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84112, and will also be streamed live via Zoom for those who cannot attend in person. Registration for the virtual experience is available, and attendees are encouraged to RSVP for the in-person event to help with planning.
Participation in “Grief and the Holidays” is free and open to the public. Those interested in attending can register online through the Caring Connections program page at the University of Utah’s website. For further information, attendees can reach out via email at [email protected] or call 801-585-9522.
As the holiday season approaches, events like this serve as a vital resource for individuals and families coping with loss. By gathering in a supportive environment, participants can find comfort and connection during what can be a difficult time of year.
