Chicago Bears Face Aaron Rodgers in Potential Last Showdown
The Chicago Bears are bracing for a significant challenge as they prepare to face Aaron Rodgers, the veteran quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, on November 16, 2025. This matchup could mark the final encounter between Rodgers and the Bears, a rivalry that has seen the quarterback dominate with a record of 25 wins to just 5 losses during his time with the Green Bay Packers. The Bears’ long snapper, Scott Daly, who grew up in Downers Grove and played college football for Notre Dame, understands the weight of this rivalry, stating, “He didn’t just ‘own’ the Bears; he owned Chicago’s psyche.”
Daly, who has a 3-1 record against Rodgers, reflects on the challenge of facing such a skilled opponent. He noted, “He’s a heck of a player, obviously a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and he’s taken this league by storm ever since he came in with Green Bay.” Rodgers’ potential presence is critical for the Steelers, especially after he suffered a fracture to his non-throwing wrist during a recent game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Although Rodgers missed practice earlier in the week, he participated in limited sessions while wearing a brace. His status was marked as questionable leading up to the game. Bears quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett commented on the impact of the injury, suggesting that even though it does not directly affect his throwing hand, discomfort could still influence his performance. “There’s probably a lot of things that you wouldn’t necessarily think of that could have an effect,” Barrett said, praising Rodgers’ toughness.
Despite the uncertainty around Rodgers’ health, the Bears are not underestimating the Steelers. Coach Ben Johnson emphasized the importance of physicality in the upcoming game, referencing the experience of Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. “There’s a pretty good track record of what he wants to be about,” Johnson said, highlighting the need for both teams to bring their best to the field.
As the Bears analyze Rodgers’ recent performances, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen noted the quarterback’s evolution over the years. “He’s seen it all. It’s hard to fool him,” Allen remarked, adding that pressuring Rodgers in the pocket will be essential. At nearly 42 years old, Rodgers may not move as he once did, but Allen acknowledges, “It’s hard to get to him. He gets the ball out of his hands really quickly.”
The psychological aspect of facing Rodgers cannot be overlooked. The Bears have a mix of experienced players and younger teammates who may not carry the same memories of past encounters. “I definitely missed out on those good games and those rivalries, but I’m excited,” said rookie running back Kyle Monangai. “I know this game means a lot more, going against him, for the fans and for the city of Chicago.”
Rodgers himself has attempted to downplay his role as a villain, recognizing the historic nature of the rivalry. “I’d rather not be… I feel like we can let bygones be bygones,” he said. The intensity of the Bears-Packers rivalry is well known, with both teams having rich histories in the NFL. Yet, as Rodgers prepares to potentially step onto Soldier Field for the last time, the question remains whether he still holds a psychological advantage over the Bears.
Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson expressed both respect and determination, saying, “Definitely a legendary quarterback, so definitely looking forward to going up against him.” He aims to make an impact by securing an interception against Rodgers, noting, “If I pick Aaron Rodgers, that trophy ball is definitely going at the top of the closet.”
This matchup is not just another game; it represents the culmination of a storied rivalry that evokes strong emotions from fans and players alike. With Rodgers’ potential final appearance against the Bears looming, both teams are poised for a fierce battle at Soldier Field, a site that has witnessed countless memorable moments in NFL history. The outcome could have lasting implications for the Bears as they look to redefine their legacy in the face of a formidable opponent.
