Minneapolis Park Board Seeks New Culinary Partner for Pavilion

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is actively seeking a new culinary partner to manage operations at the Water Works Pavilion, a prominent venue located alongside the historic Stone Arch Bridge in downtown Minneapolis. With the current management contract expiring in April 2026, MPRB aims to ensure a smooth transition and is inviting proposals for restaurant and concession concepts to commence in May of the same year.

Since its opening in 2021, the Water Works Pavilion has become a vibrant addition to the Central Mississippi Riverfront Regional Park. The facility encompasses 7,800 square feet of versatile space, featuring a year-round restaurant, a meeting room suitable for events, and six restrooms, alongside a visitor center that serves as a resting point for those exploring the area. The pavilion attracts a significant number of visitors, with nearly 3.6 million people frequenting the park each year.

The site offers picturesque views, including cascading green terraces and a river overlook patio. The plaza, which includes three gas fire pits, encourages social interaction, while landscaped areas filled with native plants enhance the natural beauty of the location. Additionally, a dedicated play area caters to younger visitors, making the pavilion an appealing destination for families and leisure seekers alike.

MPRB has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for interested parties to download, with a submission deadline set for 17:00 on January 23, 2026. To facilitate understanding of the space, two open house walkthroughs have been scheduled for January 12 and January 16, allowing potential operators to familiarize themselves with the multifaceted venue prior to submitting their culinary visions and business plans.
