Wells Trecaso Financial Reduces Meta Holdings by 40.9% in Q3
Wells Trecaso Financial Group LLC has significantly reduced its investment in Meta Platforms, Inc. by 40.9% during the third quarter of 2023. According to its latest 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the institutional investor now holds 2,081 shares of the social media giant, valued at approximately $1.53 million.
In the quarter, Wells Trecaso sold 1,438 shares, reflecting a strategic shift in its investment approach. Other institutional investors also adjusted their positions in Meta. For instance, Bay Colony Advisory Group Inc dba Bay Colony Advisors increased its stake by 0.4%, now owning 3,506 shares valued at $2.59 million after acquiring an additional 13 shares. Similarly, Hemington Wealth Management raised its holdings by 0.6% during the same period, bringing its total to 2,223 shares worth $1.64 million.
Trust Co of the South and Sentinel Pension Advisors LLC also made adjustments, increasing their stakes by 0.8% and 1.6%, respectively. Trust Co now owns 1,850 shares valued at $1.36 million, while Sentinel holds 915 shares worth $672,000. Alpine Bank Wealth Management added to its position with a 0.3% increase, now owning 4,301 shares valued at $3.16 million. Overall, institutional investors control 79.91% of Meta’s stock.

Meta Platforms has shown resilience in the market, with its stock opening at $639.77 on the last trading day. The company boasts a market capitalization of $1.62 trillion and has reported a price-to-earnings ratio of 27.22. Over the past year, Meta’s stock has fluctuated, reaching a low of $479.80 and a high of $796.25. The company’s 50-day moving average stands at $657.63, while the 200-day moving average is $693.40.
In its latest quarterly earnings report, released on January 28, 2024, Meta reported earnings per share (EPS) of $8.88, surpassing analyst expectations of $8.16. The firm achieved a net revenue of $59.89 billion, exceeding the consensus estimate of $58.33 billion and marking a year-over-year revenue increase of 23.8%. Analysts predict that Meta will post an EPS of $26.70 for the current year.
Dividend Declaration and Insider Trading
In addition to its robust financial performance, Meta Platforms recently declared a quarterly dividend of $0.525, set to be paid on March 26, 2024. Investors on record as of March 16, 2024, will be eligible for this dividend, representing an annualized yield of 0.3%.
Recent insider trading activities have also garnered attention. Director Robert M. Kimmitt sold 600 shares on November 17, 2023, for a total of $365,610, while Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth sold 11,690 shares on November 18, 2023, for approximately $6.94 million. Following these transactions, Kimmitt holds 7,347 shares, and Bosworth owns 2,415 shares. In total, insiders have sold 24,530 shares in the past three months, amounting to $15.15 million.
