Jimmy Kimmel Challenges Trump’s Cognitive Claims with Test
Jimmy Kimmel recently engaged in a light-hearted yet pointed take on Donald Trump‘s claims regarding his cognitive abilities. Kimmel undertook a cognitive test akin to the one Trump has repeatedly asserted he “aced.” The talk-show host humorously remarked that the test was “as difficult as the maze on the back of the box of Captain Crunch.”
On March 15, 2024, Trump announced via his platform, Truth Social, that he received confirmation of being in “PERFECT HEALTH” following his cognitive examination. He stated, “I ‘ACED’ (meaning, was correct on 100% of the questions asked!) for the third straight time.” Trump emphasized that no other President or Vice President had been willing to take such a test, suggesting that candidates for these offices should be required to undergo a rigorous cognitive evaluation. “Our great Country cannot be run by ‘STUPID’ or INCOMPETENT PEOPLE!” he added.
In response to Trump’s assertions, Kimmel aired a segment on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he displayed a clip of the former President boasting about his performance on the cognitive tests. Kimmel quipped, “I’m not sure being asked to take three cognitive exams is quite the flex he thinks it is.”
Kimmel elaborated on his decision to take a cognitive test himself, stating that he wanted to better understand the nature of Trump’s claims. He reached out to a qualified doctor who regularly administers such tests and arranged for her to conduct one with him.
The segment showcased Kimmel answering various questions posed by the doctor, emphasizing the comedic yet critical approach he takes towards political discourse.
As this story continues to develop, Kimmel’s playful challenge of Trump’s cognitive claims highlights the ongoing conversation about mental fitness in political leadership. The contrast between Kimmel’s humorous take and Trump’s serious declarations underscores the different approaches to discussing cognitive health in public figures.
