Metropolitan Opera Showcases ‘The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay’ in Cinemas

The Metropolitan Opera will feature an extraordinary presentation of Mason Bates’s opera, “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay,” as part of its Live in HD series. This performance, recorded live earlier in the season, will be available in approximately 800 theaters worldwide on January 24, 2024.

Set in the vibrant world of comic books, this opera is based on the acclaimed novel by Michael Chabon, with a libretto crafted by Gene Scheer. Conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the production stars baritone Andrzej Filończyk in the role of Joe Kavalier and tenor Miles Mykkanen as Sam Clay. The cast also features soprano Lauren Snouffer as Sarah Kavalier, mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce as Rosa Saks, and baritone Edward Nelson as Tracy Bacon. Bass-baritones Patrick Carfizzi and Craig Colclough portray Sheldon Anapol and Gerhard, respectively.
