Nancy Cartwright, renowned for her long-standing role as the voice of Bart Simpson on *The Simpsons*, recently shared insights about her special relationship with her niece, actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter. During the January 2, 2024 episode of *Toon’d In with Jim Cummings*, Cartwright detailed their family connection and her support of Carpenter’s career from a young age.

Cartwright clarified that while Sabrina is not a blood relative, their families are deeply intertwined. “Her grandmother was married to my dad, so her dad was my stepbrother,” she explained. This unique connection fostered a close bond, allowing Cartwright to support Carpenter’s aspirations early on.

The two first met when Carpenter was just eight years old. “Her folks brought the three girls out to my house, and they stayed with us because she was interested in her dream to do everything Disney,” Cartwright recounted. Carpenter had set her sights on a Disney contract by the age of six, demonstrating an early passion for performance. Cartwright found herself instrumental in supporting her ambitions, stating, “They would come out every year and stay with me. They lived with me for four months at a time during pilot season and helped her get management and an agent.”

While Cartwright played a supportive role, she emphasized that Carpenter’s success stems from her own talent and hard work. “She needed to hold her own, obviously,” Cartwright remarked. “This little gal, she sings, she dances, she writes; she will be an EGOT someday.” Cartwright expressed immense pride in Carpenter’s achievements, noting, “I gave her a little boost and she ran with it, and I’m very proud of her.”

As Carpenter’s career continues to soar, she has received multiple nominations for prestigious awards, including six Grammy nominations this year, highlighting her growing influence in the entertainment industry. Cartwright’s acknowledgment of her niece’s talents and achievements showcases the supportive network often found within families in Hollywood.

This connection between Cartwright and Carpenter exemplifies how familial ties can positively impact creative careers. Their story resonates with the broader narrative of support and mentorship in the entertainment industry, where relationships can play a crucial role in fostering talent.

In addition to Cartwright and Carpenter, Hollywood is filled with unexpected family connections among its stars. For instance, Lena Dunham and Larry David share a distant ancestor, while Dakota Johnson maintains a close relationship with her stepfather, actor Antonio Banderas. The intertwining of personal relationships and careers illustrates the unique dynamics at play in the entertainment world.

As the industry continues to evolve, the importance of nurturing relationships and supporting the next generation of talent remains paramount. Cartwright’s pride in her niece serves as a reminder of the foundational support that often underpins successful careers in entertainment.
